The difference between wicca and witchcraft is often misunderstood, and all wiccans are assumed to practice witchcraft whilst all witches are assumed to be Wiccan. A Wiccan is someone who follows the path of Wicca, a spiritual path, which does happen to include the practice of witchcraft as part of their spiritual beliefs, although they may choose not to perform any magic at all and still follow the Wiccan path. Wicca is one of the many Pagan religions, which bases its belief systems on nature. A witch however is someone who practices witchcraft and casts spells as part of their everyday life, regardless of their spiritual belief. There is no rule about how you become a witch, nor official recognition necessary although there are assocations and of course many covens that can offer than it you wanted it. Many witches are hedge witches, like myself, who practice witchcraft on their own as part of a wider spiritual journey that may embody some of the Wiccan belief syste, but may also involve other beliefs and faith. If you are interested in becoming a witch, or in furthering your knowledge about spells and witchcraft, or Wicca and Paganism, take a look at www.witchcraft.org for more information.
