Clear quartz is probably one of the most common crystals but it is also one of the most potent and a must have for any crystal collection. It contains within it the full spectrum of colours, and can therefore be used for a variety of purposes: psychic and emotional healing, programming other crystals for any goal, to balance the chakras, or as an ideal companion to meditation.

A quartz crystal has a plethora of uses, and is especially useful in the home, placed near t elevisions, computer monitors and other electric devices to reduce the harmful effects of radiation and the harmful positive ions which these devices emit.

Not only does it absorb negative energies from electronic equipment it will also naturally dispel negative and balance the energy of the body and is therefore an ideal healing crystal.

There are a collection of healing crystals that contain quartz, and much of today's technological hardware uses quartz including watches and lasers. It is believed the quartz is a natural record keeper, storing and transmitting information.

Moonstone contains all those qualities that we associate with the moon including sensitivity, intuition, clairvoyance. Even its appearance is subtle, it is not a brilliant stone; all specimens, from the peach and grey hues to the gem-quality blue, and rainbow, cast a light which is soft and translucent.

Its main quality is the ability to assist us in calming and soothing the emotions. Beyond this it can also aid us in our quest to enhance spiritual understanding in meditation, especially on a full moon.

Its connection to the moon makes it a very feminine stone and thus is considered to be able to speed up childbirth, ease labour pains, and alleviating the symptoms of PMT and period pain. Moonstone is also known as the "travellers stone" and can be used for protection when travelling.

Also: Diamond, selenite, milky quartz
