White is the combination of all colours, as from white light each colour is refracted out. It therefore combines all the qualities of the spectrum of colours and indeed has the fastest vibration of all of them.

While black absorbs, white reflects, like black though it is uncompromising and its negative qualities can be as harsh as its positive qualities are transformative.

Each attribute relates to how we feel when we are in the presence of the colour as well as what it says about our own personalities when black is our favourite or least favourite colour.

Positive traits:

Purity

Peace, hope and light

Clarity

Cleanliness

Simplicity

Transformation

Healing

Perfection

Reflection

Uplifting

Negative traits:

Sterile

Unfriendly

Uncompromising

Barrier

Elitism

Uninviting

Cold

If you love the colour white you probably have an ideal view of life, and find perfection in everything. You like to be calm, cool and collected and enjoy feeling uplifted and transformed whenever you look at the colour. You have to be careful however that you do not overdo the cleanliness and become overly sterile and too perfect for human relationships to be able to develop.

If you do not like white, chances are you find it too sterile and uninviting and prefer instead to be in tune with your baser characteristics. With this however there could also be a fear of reflection and purity and perhaps the fear of success.

When we don't like a colour one of the best things to do is acknowledge what negative aspects or traits relate to us and try to embrace the colour's positive traits through meditation, wearing the colour, or surrounding ourselves with that colour in a personal space (not necessarily by going as far as decorating, but with a throw or piece of material). Tune into the colour and try to learn the lessons it is sharing with us.

In the home white definitely has its place, and where a room is entirely white it can seem beautifully calm, serene and clean. However it can also be uninviting and a pain to keep clean! As highlights white is best used in conjunction with other pale colours to create a sense of serenity, such as in the bedroom, using creams, light browns and white draping to add a dreamlike quality.

White is not associated with any chakras or tarot cards.
