Palmistry is a highly personal form of divination as it looks at our own individual maps on the palms of our hands.

No-one else will have the same map as us, and for this reason many feel that this is the highest form of divination.

The methods for interpreting the lines, mounds and dips on our hands can be mapped back as far as 4500years ago from India, as part of a vast field of esoteric wisdom known as “the ocean of knowledge”. Pythagorus wrote about it in 530BC, and it is reported that Aristotle and Julius Caeser (the well known esoteric champion) were well versed in palmistry.

From this auspicious history then the hand has become the mirror of a person's past, present and future and it is believed that both your potential and past actions are imprinted in your hands.

The lines and mounds on the right hand reveal your life as it is being moulded by circumstances and experience whereas the lines on the left hand are your potential (this is the other way round if you are left handed).

These lines of potential though are by no means the entire map for everything, but signposts or directions on where it could go given the current set of circumstances and energies. So the inactive hand depicting potential is the most predictive, and therefore should always be read after the active hand which tells us what is happening now. More simply then ,if you are right handed you read your right hand first to tell you what is happening now, then you read the left hand to tell you where you could be heading based on the current set of conditions.

What do the lines mean?

We have all heard of the fate line, life line, heart line and head line, but what do these mean? Firstly the lines should not be interpreted in isolation, and in order to read them the key is to understand all the little markings on your hand, as well as the interaction of the lines and the mounds (those fleshy parts of your hand). Palmistry is not just about the lines, but about the entire hand taking into account the shape of your hand, your fingers, the mounds under your thumb and fingers, how the lines cross over, whether there are hatch marks, breaks, twists or chains. This is why each hand is different, our handprint to our lives.

According to Cassandra Eason “The lines are the pathways that have been, are being or can be trodden, the mounds are the repositories or characteristics that can be unfolded in positive or negative ways”
