Orange is a mixture of two primaries, red and yellow and as a result has a combination of these two colours characteristics. It is a highly sociable colour, combining the energy of red and the emotion of yellow and is a great colour to use for social occasions

It has many of the qualities of red without being quite so aggressive and therefore can be more appealing to many people

In the house, orange, like red, is a great colour for the dining room as it encourages social interaction and the love of physical comforts, eg food and drink.
