The essence of nine is in its position as the final single number, there are no new numbers after the number nine, just combinations of those single numericals. Thus we are close to completion with nine, we are approaching the highest attainment and reap our reward.

Strong qualities associated with nine are humanitarianism, selflessness, the dedication of life to others, far above that seen with the number six. Although reward is pretty much guaranteed it is not expected, however there is still a strong determination to succeed and the need to strive for perfection.

Esoterically, nine is the number of initiation and rites of passage.

The nine personality therefore is a crusader for humanitarian concerns, they put everyone before themselves and champion the rights of all over the right of one. Their determination ensures that others will see significant improvements to their lives and this will be reward enough for a number nine. They are often idealistic and have strongly held views which can hold them back, and make them seem untouchable or unapproachable, although their altruistic approach to life means they never intentionally aim to offend anyone. In fact their main aim in life is to help and heal.

Nine then is a balance between the material and the spiritual worlds and the fruition of our thoughts and actions come in the guise of a nine.

In the minor arcana, the nine is the resultant card, the results of supreme effort, determination and selfless acts are seen in these cards. The need for perfection in all endeavour can result in tiredness, fear, worry, doubt and jealousy from others as well as abundance, achievement and reward.

The Hermit is the ninth major arcana card and here we have the ultimate selflessness of a guiding light to show you your right path in life, in order for you to gain your own spiritual attainment, this card is selfless. In addition The Moon (18) contains the essence of nine, and warns of the dangers of becoming too caught up in ideals and perfection to the detriment of real life as well as the need to tread carefully when caught up in social endeavour.

In a nine home you can reap the rewards of all your endeavours, this is a place where you can share your humanitarian concerns, welcome in others who need your help and give out your compassion, love and material goods freely and with care. People will be drawn to you and your home although you may wish too hard for perfection creating a un-homely home, and take care not to give too much of yourself away so that there is nothing left for you! Your concern for the masses may then endanger your relationships with individuals.

The nine can have a challenging essence, especially when so much is given out to others that there is nothing left for yourself or those closest to you. Nine qualities can also seem arrogant and narrowminded, especially when in the determination to change the world their concerns become the central most important aspect of life, over and above any other views or issues.
