Fives are active, always moving and constantly changing. This essence is high energy, impulsive, adventurous and versatile. The five essence is also all about communication, know what you want, get what you want straight away by being able to communicate those needs! This connects strongly to the qualities of the colour blue, whose connection to the throat chakra is all about communication and being able to let others know your heart's desire. Esoterically, five is the quintessence, the fifth element that encompasses fire, water, earth and air into spirit. Five is connected to the pentagram which is a strong magical symbol for magical power. A five personality is a strong communicator, with high energy making them good explorers, investigators and adventurers. A five personality will always be seeking out new knowledge and information but may forget to check the details before making a decision. Fives are not just about adventure and freedom, but also conflict, with five's quality of change there is a feeling of disquiet, challenges and not quite knowing where things are heading. This makes us feel unsure and this is a strong quality with the number five. IT also presents us with antidotes with change comes uncertainty, with adventure there is fear. All of these are within the number five. In the minor arcana, fives indicate the results of whirlwind happenings, and question stagnation or redundant ideas or situations. With the five energy in a reading there is drive, ambition and daring but also a warning of conflict and strife. Fast changes can cause challenges and often obstacles that need to be overcome due to the lack of organisation, and with fast moving events there is always fear and uncertainty. Within the major arcana the number five is connected to the Heirophant, here we have an antidote to the fast movement offered ordinarily, the Heirophant offers up the need to study, to embrace tradition and to remember our roots. The second card in the major arcana connected to the number five is Temperance (14), here we have the need for moderation but also change from the act of combining two opposing forces. A five home is always exciting, full of people, stimulating the mind and body and a home of extremes. It is not a home for rest and respite, but rather a social gathering place where the party is happening. This can be too much to handle for some and can cause undue stress. The five essence is a dichotomy in itself therefore, on the one hand its positive aspects lie in its energy and excitement, but with that comes too much happening too fast, and therefore obstacles, conflict and uncertainty. Five reminds us that everything is best in moderation.
