Brown is not one of the main spectrum of colours, but has relevant attributes nonetheless and is worth an overview.

Like black, brown is seen as a serious colour. It is often referred to as the new black in fashion and in that respect has a sophisticated characteristic.

It is a combination of red, yellow and black and therefore combines the qualities of all three colours, having more warmth than black, less aggression than red and more stability than yellow.

It has a few positive attributes and naturally some negative attributes and as with other colours these depend on tone, tint and surrounding colours. Each attribute relates to how we feel when we are in the presence of the colour as well as what it says about our own personalities when brown is our favourite or least favourite colour.

Positive traits:

Earthy

Nature

Practical

Warmth

Serious

Reliable

Stability

Support

Sophisticated

Negative traits:

Humourless

Boring

Heavy

Serious

Unsophisticated

If brown is your favourite colour, you are probable highly in tune with nature, and may also love green. You feel a connection with the earth and enjoy practical pursuits that involve action without too much adventure. You are a reliable person to know, who would never knowingly let anyone down and get satisfaction from being supportive and helpful to others.

If you do not like brown, you may have a fear of being boring, preferring adventure and fun to practicality and stability. Security is something you already have and need to break free from serious, staid way of life.

When we don't like a colour one of the best things to do is acknowledge what negative aspects or traits relate to us and try to embrace the colour's positive traits through meditation, wearing the colour, or surrounding ourselves with that colour in a personal space (not necessarily by going as far as decorating, but with a throw or piece of material). Tune into the colour and try to learn the lessons it is sharing with us.

In the home, brown is often found in the practical places such as floor coverings and in the wood cabinets. Having brown in a room completely can seem overwhelming but in the right tones and shades can be a complete connection with earth and nature. It is not specifically suited to a specific room in the house, and would not be ideal in bathroom, bedroom or dining room. But is not out of place in the kitchen or living room, or conservatory, as a connection of the outside in.

Brown is not connected to any charka or tarot card.
