Thoughts and emotions are like signals that are sent out and affect our energy fields and the energy field of the universe

Like a stone being thrown into the sea, ripples are created as a result of thoughts being sent into the energy, and those ripples reach out far beyond our own energy fields.

The power of our thoughts can programme our energies, and as such affect what happens in our lives. When we think we put in place a code by which we find ourselves repeating behaviours and limiting our potential.

For instance how often have you stopped yourself from attempting something new, because as a child you were told that you can't do something by an adult. As you grew up this thought remained in your mind until now. That is the power of thought.

Several experiments have proven the power of thought as well. In one such experiment attitude to luck was gauged, it was found that people who thought they were lucky were more likely to win competitions and the lottery than people who thought they were unlucky.

Affirmations can undo negative programming and re-enforce a positive way of thinking that will help in every aspect of life, in improving health and wellbeing, enhancing confidence and self-esteem, attracting abundance and wealth, you name it – the act of thinking positively can and does have an incredible affect on making life better.

An affirmation is defined simply as a positive statement used to reprogram your subconscious -- a statement which, when said to yourself over and over,  with emotion, will influence internal forces and manifest change in your life.

There are several rules that impact on the success of affirmations;

Repetition

Stating an affirmation over and over again re-enforces that belief within you. Some state that in order for them to truly work they should be repeated using a multiplication of three, so three times, or nine times, thirty three or ninety-nine times for real power.

Keeping it in the present

Think about it, if you are always saying “one day I will” or “this happens to me soon” then it will remain where you are stating it to be, in the future. It seems strange to make a statement in the present tense that is not yet real, but in order to re-program and benefit from the affects of affirmations this is the only way they can work. Jim Carey once told how, when he was a struggling comedian, with no money, he visited a part of town he could not afford to live in and did two things, he wrote himself a cheque for $1m and he said to himself over and over again “I live there”, within a year he was a superstar, cashed his own cheque and bought the house.

Always have your affirmation in the NOW, and use the word NOW to re-enforce that.

Stated in positive terms

Again using negative terminology will only re-enforce the negative energy, using positive words is far better and more powerful. So instead of saying “I no longer have a cold” say “I am healthy and full of vigour now”, or instead of “I am not in my horrid job anymore” say “I have a wonderful new job where I am appreciated now”

Kept short and sweet

Too many words makes it too complicated and hard to remember, so help yourself by keeping the affirmations short and sweet, plus they have a far greater impact on the subconscious.

Belief

It is hard to believe in affirmations when you first start, after all if you are trying to lose weight its difficult to look yourself in the mirror and say “I am slim and beautiful” when you currently feel the opposite! But as part of re-programming your subconscious it is essential to use an affirmation like this to help you succeed, and in fact even if you don't quite believe it to begin with, the more you repeat it the more believable it becomes.

Emotions

Let your emotions get involved in this, as affirmations are tapping into the most precious and heartfelt issues to you, otherwise you would not want to change anything would you? Let your emotions fill your statements, and these will help with the belief and the persistence needed to repeat them again and again.

Persistence

Keep it up. Don't just choose an affirmation and say it three times and expect change, do them every single day until you notice a difference, and then continue. Make it into a ritual, part of your meditation, or your journey to work, or daily walk or exercise routine.

“I am loved, loving and lovable”

“All my needs are met instantaneously”

“I am open to the abundance the universe has to offer me”

“I now create my wonderful, ideal life”

“I now have surplus all my needs are being met”

“I love and accept myself exactly as I am”

“I expect the best and I get it NOW”

“I am always in the right place at the right time”
