Everyone can meditate. In fact the last time you sat out in the sun and just closed your eyes and allowed the warmth to beat down on your face, you meditated. You may not have realised it as we associate all kinds of rules and rituals with meditation, but meditation is as simple a technique as you want it to be, and is the easiest route to a calm, healthy and happy mind, body and soul.

Meditation is the perfect cure for all those worries, distractions and distresses that your mind can go through on a daily basis. It is easy to tell whether or not you need to meditate because pretty much everyone would benefit from it! If you feel like your mind is taking over with constant thoughts racing in from everywhere, or you just don't have enough time in the day to get everything done, or if you feel constantly under pressure, get irritable at little things, feel constantly tired, or just need a break, then daily, or even weekly meditation would help you.

When we are constantly externalised, flitting from one crisis to another, always focused on our mind allowing it to take over and rule how we are, then we become unable to recognise the beauty of life, the wonders all around us, and the amazing thing it is just to be, eventually we become unable to cope and the affects of a dis-eased mind has an affect on the body and eventually the soul.

In fact meditation would help any symptoms of a distressed mind, body and soul and is one of the easiest and safest therapies there is. Practicing meditation can help us regain our natural balance and reconnects us to our innermoo, our innermost peace within.

Meditation has been recognised since ancient times as a method of coping, and brings about a transformation of our perceptions, by practicing it daily we can completely change how we function in daily life, stressful situations become easy to manage, we act and react in a calm manner, and people around us notice the difference. A recent study has found evidence that meditation has a biological affect on the body, suggesting it can boost parts of the brain and the immune system. Furthermore, researchers have also found that transcendental meditation can help reduce blood pressure and keep the heart healthy. So there is even scientific proof that it is good for you, so what's stopping you?

Unfortunately, there are many myths surrounding meditation and the only way to dispel these is to just go ahead and try it. The most important thing about meditation is that everyone can do it, anywhere, for any length of time, using any method that suits them. There are no rules, no need for specific tools, no special words, no special music, just time and a place to be still.

It helps to have an understanding of some basics and if you really start to enjoy the inner peace it brings you then it is worth exploring more aspects including visualisation, using meditation to gain a deeper insight into yourself, or to attune yourself to understanding different things. For instance, meditation is a great way to get to know the tarot, or to invite the lesson from a specific tarot card into our lives. As it has innate healing effects anyway, meditation is an ideal technique to enhance the healing capabilities of the mind using colour or chakra healing meditations.

In fact the list is endless, and instead of this being a daunting prospect, see it as something that is a wonderful new world to be explored that can do nothing but good for you on your life journey.
